Hitbox was an Austrian-based esports live-streaming platform launched in 2013 as a competitor to Twitch, offering features like low-latency streaming and HTML5 support. It gained traction by partnering with major esports organizations such as ESL, DreamHack, and Wargaming, and attracted a community of around 6 million monthly active users. In 2017, Hitbox merged with U.S.-based Azubu to form Smashcast.
